Tell Me A Story Slam – CHEO Edition

August 31 @ 6:00 pm9:00 pm

On August 31st, 2016, the ULPC will be starting a new spoken word series called Tell Me a Story Slam. This series invites people from all walks of life and all experience levels to sign up and tell a 5 minute story for charity. The event will be held at the Ottawa Public Library Main Branch Auditorium (120 Metcalfe St, Ottawa) from 5:30-9:00pm. Sign-up to tell a story occurs at 5:30pm in the lobby of the library and the show will start at 6:00pm. The show will have a suggested $10 donation but if you can’t afford that, it is a Pay-What-You-Can show.

Our goal is to encourage professional and amateur storytellers in Ottawa to partake in a storytelling competition mimicking the popular American series The Moth. The audience will also get to have some fun; audience members will be given tokens to vote for their champion. Proceeds from each show will be donated to a charity and each show’s theme will be decided by the charity. This month, we are pleased to partner with Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO). Our hope is to not only have an entertaining show but make a large contribution to the Ottawa community through art and donations.
